As believers, we know who God is. We know God is love, good, and kind. We hear it at church every Sunday. We are reminded during the difficult seasons by our friends. If we grew up in the church, we heard is a lot as a kid. But has this knowledge of God’s goodness transferred from our head to our heart?
| AUDIO | Late post but this is the audio link to my breakout session at the Breakaway Women’s Retreat in Ellicottville, NY. I pray it encourages you, blesses you, and propels you into intentionally living in the presence of God everyday.
As women, we tear ourselves apart on a daily basis. To fight the lies of insecurity, comparison, and jealousy, we need to know how God defines beauty and make a choice to believe the truth. Beauty is not about elaborate hairstyles and expensive clothing, but rather about the heart- a heart that is being transformed by the Spirit of God.
Have you ever been misunderstood? My assumption is yes. Of course. If you have had any contact with another human in the past 48 hours, most likely you have been misunderstood. We live in a world where people will misunderstand us- It’s inevitable. If that’s the case, then what are we to do? How can we handle these encounters with grace?
When I think of "thriving" in the Christian context, I think of being truly alive. Not alive in the sense of experiencing every adventure known to man. But having life bubble up from within because Jesus Christ who is Life lives within us.
The Son of God walked thru moments on mountaintops, but also of deep sorrow in the valleys of life. He was the Beloved Son, but also a hated individual. He was embraced, but also despised and rejected. The word says in Isaiah, “it was the Lord’s will to crush Him…” so that anyone who puts their faith in Him will have eternal life. Just like Jesus was willing to walk thru the good, bad, and ugly of life for the will of God, are you willing to do the same?
When Jesus called you out, He set a plan in motion to redeem, restore, and transform your entire life. He also put plans in place to use you for His glory- to be a part of His mission in reconciling the world back to His heart. If you are struggling today, wondering if God sees you or hears you- please take heart- He has NOT forgotten about you. Keep seeking Him with your whole heart. His plans will be laid out for you in the perfect way and time.
No matter your story, God wants to use the broken pieces of your life and string them together to put you on display as an instrument for His glory. We all have brokenness, but God loves us too much to let us remain broken. He wants to speak to your heart and lead you down the path of everlasting life, full of freedom and purpose.
Living past mediocrity isn’t just about quantity- how many people know your name, how much money you make, how big of an impact you can make. Living past mediocrity means making an impact even if no one knows your name. It means being faithful to the One who does know your name, and you remain steadfast regardless of where life may take you.
Goal setting at the start of a new year is great, but don't get so caught up in your future that you miss what God is doing in your present. Use these three keys to unlock what God wants to do in you in 2018!
Even though this is a season of wonder, the holidays can be tough for some of us. Depending on our family, loss we have experienced, or events that may have occurred during this season or even this past year, you may be struggling with feeling joyful and holly this Christmas. My encouragement to you is this: take heart. Jesus is near.
In John 15:18 it says; “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. “ In this verse Jesus is warning His disciples. It’s clear in the bible that believers in Jesus Christ will face persecution and suffering. But Jesus also tells us this; “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33Despite the persecution and suffering Christians may face, there is peace in midst because the Holy Spirit is with us.
Yeah, I'm that guy- felt led to blog about the not-so-fun topics. First up, the topic of suffering. All of us will experience suffering multiple times in life, especially if you're a follower of Jesus. But no matter what trials we may face, God is RIGHT THERE in the midst of the heart-ache and pain.
God is faithful. Some of you may need to be reminded of that today. Be encouraged because His words says; “know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generation.”
It’s important because when we’re filled with the fullness of God, we’re empowered by His spirit and strength. When we’re empowered with His spirit and strength, He enables us to make the choices we need to make in order to change our life.
We were created to know and love God through a relationship with Jesus. When we encounter His love for us, it begins to change us from the inside out. His love is THAT powerful, tangible, and real, that when you encounter His presence, it is life altering.
The word ASK in the Greek is translated to a word that means; ask, beg, call for, crave, desire, require. Is this how you are praying to God? Do you crave and desire to know Him and the plans He has for you?
