Ask, Seek, Knock- Oct. 4

[We can’t have our mind so fixed on the future and our unanswered prayers that we forget that we have a God who wants to be sought out today for who He is, not just for what He can do.]

I wanted to begin today’s post with yesterday’s take away. Mainly because this is so crucial when it comes to prayer (asking, seeking, knocking).

I cannot stress this enough- God is there to direct you in and out of EVERY season of life. He wants to help you MORE than you want His help! His word promises He will guide us, just as a Shepard does for his sheep. He loves you and He has the best plan for your life. As you seek Him, He’ll lead and guide you to the plans He has for you.

In order to find all God has for us, we will first have to discover Him, for who He is, not just what He can do. Do you know why this is so important? Because no matter what you receive in this life, NOTHING will ever satisfy you completely. No perfect marriage, perfect family, perfect health, perfect life situation will give you the fulfillment you are searching for. It is only Jesus that can enter into our hearts, heal our brokenness, and fulfill every deep longing and desire we have.

I briefly mentioned this on Day 1; I had so many questions about my life as I was searching for God. But when I found Jesus, I didn’t find every answer to every question. I found His LOVE.

We were created to know and love God through a relationship with Jesus. When we encounter His love for us, it begins to change us from the inside out. His love is THAT powerful, tangible, and real, that when you encounter His presence, it is life altering.

Look at these verses below that speak of the love of God:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:35-39

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Ephesians 3:17-19

If God’s love is THIS incredible, then I don’t know about you, but I want to spend my whole life on discovering what this love is all about.

Because God loves us, He sent Jesus to die for us. Because God loves us, His grace covers all our sins and failures. Because God loves us, there is nothing we can do to earn or lose His love. When you encounter THIS kind of love, you can’t help but respond in surrender to Jesus. So this means, that no matter if God says no to some prayers, yes to others, no matter if we can’t see the future and where He is leading us, because of His great love for us, we will WANT to follow Him no matter the cost.

REFLECT

  • Are you confident in God’s love for you?
  • Do you truly believe that He loves you REGARDLESS of your sin and failure, and He accepts you as you are?
  • Invite God to encounter you with His love. Keep seeking Him and He will be faithful to you.
